Differences over women's retirement age delay pension reform

BRASILIA, Apr 18 (Reuters) Disagreements over changes to the minimum retirement age for women have delayed the presentation of the Brazilian government's pension reform draft until tomorrow, a senior lawmaker said today.
The disagreements highlight the lingering political resistance to the unpopular reform, despite concessions made by President Michel Temer aimed at making his plan more palatable to lawmakers facing elections next year.
Congressman Carlos Marun, who heads the lower house committee that will initially vote on the proposal, said the government and lawmakers continue to discuss whether to include a lowered retirement age for women to 62 or 63 years among changes aimed at securing passage of the reform, which will be a constitutional amendment.
