Diesel prices hiked by Rs 1.26, petrol by 5 paise

New Delhi, Jun 15 (UNI) Public sector oil marketing companies today increased the retail selling price of petrol and diesel by 5 paise a litre and Rs 1.26 a litre respectively in Delhi with a corresponding increase in other States. The increase includes State levies and will be applicable from midnight tonight. After the price change, petrol will cost Rs 65.65 a litre in Delhi while diesel will cost Rs 55.19 a litre. “The current level of international product prices of petrol & diesel and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate warrant an increase in the price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision,” said Indian Oil Corporation in a statement. “The movement of prices in international oil market and rupee-dollar exchange rate shall continue to be closely monitored and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes,” the statement added.
