Dhawan, Iyer half centuries post 187/5 against RCB

New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Opener Shikhar Dhawan half century 50 and skipper Shreyas Iyer 52 helped Delhi pile up a competitive 187/5 in the stipulated 20 overs of the IPL against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground here on Sunday.
Earlier, DC won the toss and opted to bat against RCB here at their home ground.
Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw hammered RCB bowlers for boundaries and went on to add 35 run partnership for first wicket.
Shaw after quick 18 off 10 struck 4 fours after being caught behind by Parthiv Patel in Umesh Yadav bowl in the 4th over.
Meanwhile, in the 6th over Dhawan had a narrow escape when his catch was missed at mid-off at 28 in Yadav's spell.
After Shaw's departure Dhawan and skipper Shreyas Iyer piled up 68 runs for the second wicket.
But Dhawan played a useful innings for his home team bringing in half century and was down in the 13th over after being caught off by washington Sundar in Chahal's spell.

Dhawan scored 50 off 37b with 5 fours and 2 sixes.
After Dhawan Iyer and Pant chipped in 24 runs for third wicket partnership. But then Pant was lbw to Chahal at 7 in the 15th over. Pant's 7 came off in 7 balls with 1 four.
Skipper Iyer who was charging RCB bowlers was stopped at 52 after being caught off by Kohli in Washington Sundar's spellin the 16th over. Iyer 52 off 37 hit 2 fours and 3 sixes.
Next to go was Ingram at 11 after being caught off by Sundar in Saini spell in the 17th over.
Ingram 11 off 7 balls 1 four 1 six.
However, it was Rutherford and Axar Patel who took up the initative to bringing DC score to competitive score of 187/5 in the 20 overs. Both the batsmen blasted RCB bowlers with fours and sixes.
Rutherford fired 28 off 13 with 1 four and 3 sixes while Axar Patel also contributed useful 16 off 9 with 3 fours.
In the last ball of 20th over it was Rutherford who struck Saini for a one handed six over backward point ending DC innings on a good note.
