Kolkata, Aug 11 (UNI) West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar today paid tributes to revolutionary Khudiram Bose on his martyrdom day.
'Tributes to Khudiram Bose on the anniversary of his martyrdom,' he tweeted. 'On 11 August 1908, he (18 years 8 months and 8 days old) with Gita in his hand, swung to the gallows, leaving behind a legacy,' the governor said. 'His life inspires us to do all that takes to preserve our FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY,' he said.
Bose, born on December 3, 1889, faced the gallows for attempting to assassinate Magistrate Douglas Kingsford. It was termed as the Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case. He, along with Prafulla Chaki, was sentenced to death. While Chaki had committed suicide, Khudiram was executed on this day in 1908.
