Kolkata, Aug 09 (UNI) Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today paid homage on the 78th anniversary of the 'Quit India' movement.
'While remembering millions of freedom fighters, who sacrificed for Independence, on 78th anniversary of #QuitIndiaMovement, let us pledge to ensure democracy flourishes,' Mr Dhankhar tweeted. 'All efforts be made to salvage and restore Freedom and Democracy @MamataOfficial,' the governor said.
Ms Banerjee said, 'On the 78th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, my homage to all those who took part in the freedom movement. Let us not forget, the freedom struggle was the biggest ever movement ever in the history of India.'
