DGCA monitoring Jet Airways after grounding of aircraft

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) The Director General of Civil Aviation is keeping a hawk’s eye on the flight schedules of debt laden airline Jet Airways and sought its winter schedule chart from the company.
The aviation watchdog has also asked the company to submit it the measures it has taken to ensure the flight take off according to their scheduled timings, an official said here.
The airline gives the DGCA its schedules in two parts — winter schedule from October-end to March-end and summer schedule from March-end to October-end.
The official said the DGCA has taken a firm stand on security and has not allowed the airline to cut its cost in either regular checking or aircraft’s repair and maintenance.
It is notable that around four of Jet’s aircraft were grounded due to which a number of flights were cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday. Later, the company in a statement that The aircraft temporarily grounded for the engine normalisation exercise and would rejoin the scheduled operations on Friday.

The airline has loans of over ₹8,400 crore, with SBI being its biggest lender. SBI’s exposure is said to be close to ₹2,000 crore.
Earlier this month, the debt-hit airline had defaulted on its payment to a consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India.
