Dev’s film titled ‘Cockpit’ inspired by real-life incident that he experienced once

Kolkata, Oct 3 (UNI) Bengali film superstar Dev’s second home production, a film titled ‘Cockpit’ directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee, is inspired by a real-life incident. It was a flight from Mumbai to Kolkata, stuck in heavy turbulence, and how the captain landed the aircraft with malfunctioning engines. Made under Dev's home production, the film is inspired by a real incident that happened in India and was released during Durga Puja. Dev and Kamaleswar share a good rapport and understanding and they wanted to try out something new and authentic. Hence they have come up with this idea. Dev came up with the idea of the story based on a real life experience that he experienced once. He was caught mid-air in turbulence and that lasted for twenty minutes. That scared him and due to the efficiency of the pilot the plane landed safely. But that incident is among the worst incidents in the actor’s life. Dev is roped in to play the lead in the film while Koel will be playing his wife and Rukmini Maitra will be essaying a member of the cabin crew. Director Raj Chakraborty plays a pivotal role in this venture. Paran Bandyopadhyay, Priyanka Sarkar, child artist Arshiya, and many others will be apart of this film. Prosenjit Chatterjee is doing a cameo in this airborne drama who plays Dev's father and will appear in the protagonist's flashback. Dev, Koel Mallick and Rukmini Maitra — the lead cast of Kamaleswar Mukherjee's Cockpit were in Bangkok and Pattaya. The role of a pilot is being played by Dev Adhikari known to be a versatile actor and has the talent to fit in any role he is being offered. The story takes a serious turn when the flight is caught in a turbulent weather in the air. The pilots face difficulty in landing the plane with damaged engines. But somehow they manage to do the same. The movie also brings to us a love and hate story where Dev has two love interests at the same time and how he manages both lives becomes a great question. The actors have done full justice to their characters. The songs of the movie are good adding to the theme of the movie it revolves around and the screenplay and cinematography are average. The movie is good on the director’s part and the actors' part can be appreciated. "I am trying to do films that are offbeat yet commercial — ones that are out of the box. I can vouch for the concept of Cockpit. It is something no one has dealt with in the past,” Dev said. “It cannot get bigger than this. For Cockpit, we were looking for someone experienced, sensible and mature and someone who is new, vibrant. We just knew both had to look convincing. We had been thinking of casting Koel for some time now. And when I called her she just took two days to think it over. She loved the story and was very excited about the film,” said Dev.
