New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Internationally acclaimed Kolkata based designer Jaya Misra, known for her impeccable design sensibilities and social work, was honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018 for 'Social & Business Entrepreneur of the year' category.
The charismatic designer and entrepreneur was bestowed with this award as a part of the 'She Can Fly' initiative of Smile Foundation, the Charity partner for Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards 2018.
'She Can Fly' is an initiative of Smile Foundation to enable, equip, empower girl child with quality education, proper nutrition, good health, adequate skills and above all a lot of self confidence to help them live their lives to their fullest potential. The initiative also focuses on bringing attention to the pay gaps that affect women in the Bollywood industry.
“Jaya is an amazing designer, contributes towards the society on a regular basis and is the founder of four other companies apart from her design venture. It is Women like Jaya Misra who set an example for many girls and encourage them to follow their dreams. Jaya Misra is one of the talented India designers who has created a niche for herself in India and abroad with her beautiful creations and understated elegance.
With a strong work ethic and natural flair for design, Jaya has global presence. Styling everyone from Amitabh Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shilpa Shetty, Huma Qureshi, Konkana Sen Sharma, Ayushmann Khurrana, Jaya has also designed costume for Salmaan Khan’s Wanted and Tollywood movie “Duione”.
Known for her contribution towards society, Jaya has been associated with Smile Foundation to support the cause of Girl Child Empowerment through education.
