Dense fog likely in Odisha in next 24 hours

Pune, Jan 24 (UNI) Dense fog is very likely to occur in isolated places of Odisha during next 24 hours, predicted the India Meteorological Department today.

It further said that rain or thundershowers had occurred at a few locales in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during past 24 hours.

They had also occurred at isolated portions in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the period.

Dry weather prevailed over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep during the period.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Jammu & Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh.

They were below par in some corners of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Kutch and Chhattisgarh as well in remaining sites of Madhya Pradesh.

Night temperatures were appreciably above normal in some locations of Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu and Kerala

They were above norm in some segments of Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and coastal & south interior Karnataka as well in remaining areas

of Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Saurashtra, Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. They were normal over the rest of the country.

The lowest minimum temperature of 3.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Amritsar (Punjab) and Churu (west Rajasthan).

Anti-CAA protests aimed at blackmailing govt: Sambit Patra

Panaji, Feb 26 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Sabmit Patra on Wednesday said that the ongoing anti-CAA protests in the national capital were aimed at black mailing the government by the opposition around US President Donald Turmp's visit to India.
Speaking at an interaction programme in the city, he said, “They want to blackmail the government. They want the government should bend down. I am not saying anything provocative. The government has said repeatedly, that it (CAA) is an act to give rights, not take rights. All the controversial issues which no one wanted to touch with tongs earlier, we have in one year, taken such big decisions in controversial matters.”
“You think the Opposition will sit silent? They will use everything in their power to destabilise this government, this country,” the BJP leader said.
