New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) BJP Member Neerak Shekhar on Saturday demanded that the Government include Bhojpuri language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution.
While raising his demand during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP lawmaker said that there are over 20 lakh Bhojpuri speakers in this country and this language is spoken by around eight crore people in the countries like Mauritius, Surinam, Nepal, Uganda and other countries too, He also said that Nepal and Mauritius Mauritius has given it to constitutional strength.
A former Union Home Minister in UPA who did not even speak Hindi, spoke in Bhojpuri and said he understood our feelings, but nothing came of it, Mr Shekhar added.
