Delhi Spl Court orders judicial custody of Chidambaram till Nov 27 in INX Media case

New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) A Delhi Special Court on Wednesday passed an order to keep former finance minister and Congress Leader P Chidambaram in judicial custody till November 27 in INX Media case.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR in May 2017 over alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media in which Chidambaram as Finance minister received kickbacks of Rs 305 crore in 2007.
CBI arrested P Chidambaram from his residence at New Delhi on August 21.
Enforcement Directorate has registered a case under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act and took custodial interrogation of Chidambaram to unearth the embezzlement process.
The court took cognizance of the chargesheet filed by CBI in the case on October 18, naming several others including P Chidambaram as an accused in the INX Media case.
However, Chidambaram got little reprieve when he was granted bail by the SC on October 22 which rejected the plea of the CBI saying that on bail he may influence the witnesses or was a flight risk .
CBI Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar on Wednesday after producing Chidambaram through video conferencing room ordered for his judicial custody till November, 27 in the case.
The Court has allowed the plea of Chidambaram for western toilet and medicines in the custody.
