New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday dropped it's Tri Nagar assembly candidate
Jitender Singh Tomar and gave the ticket to his wife Preeti Tomar for the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled to be held on February 8.
The Delhi High Court had earlier set aside the election of Mr Tomar for declaring false information regarding his educational qualification in his nomination papers for the 2015 Delhi Assembly polls.
"I told the party that my wife will fight the election and the party agreed," he said.
On Monday, a delegation of Delhi BJP leaders had met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora, and demanded the cancellation of the nomination of Mr Tomar.
The counting of votes will take place on February 11.
The Delhi Assembly Election 2020 will witness a triangular contest between AAP, BJP and Congress.
In 2015 elections, the AAP won 67 seats, while the BJP got the rest three and the Congress drew a blank.
