New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) After imparting self defense training to 5000 girls under its pivotal programme 'Sashakti', Delhi police on Tuesday awarded them at a function here.
Students who have undergone the training were awarded certificates by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik. The Commissioner also felicitated principals of respective schools.
In his address to the students, Mr Patnaik enumerated several programmes and apps launched especially for the security and safety of women and school going girls.
He also elaborated upon the healthy downward trend in the crimes against women and the massive role of the Delhi Police programmes like 'Sashakti', which played an important role in the decline of crime graph and instilling a feeling of safety and awareness regarding women safety.
The girl students were imparted training over a period of 15 days by the trainers of Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUW&C) and Parivartan cells of the seven districts of Delhi Police.
In the programme, over 3100 girls from different schools demonstrated their skills with enthusiasm, in well synchronised and co-ordinated manners.
