Delhi HC rejects bail plea by Sengar in Unnao custodial death case

New Delhi Jan 19 (UNI) The Delhi High Court on Monday rejected a plea by expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar to suspend a 10-year prison sentence imposed for his role in the custodial death of the father of a rape survivor from Uttar Pradesh.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja said the court found no grounds to grant interim relief, dismissing Sengar's application for suspension of sentence while his appeal against conviction is pending.
The judge noted that Sengar has served about seven and a half years of the 10-year sentence but said the delay in hearing the appeal could not justify relief, as part of the delay was attributable to multiple applications filed by Sengar himself during the proceedings.
