New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has berated the South Delhi Municipal Corporation for concretisation of trees, calling it the 'worst kind of human rights violation'.
Coming down heavily on SDMC, the single-Judge Bench of Justice Najmi Waziri said on Friday, "It seems that pegging down a tree is the worst kind of human rights abuse, which changes the whole environment and ecology.'
While hearing a petition that highlighted the authorities' inaction to preserve trees in the national capital's Vasant Vihar area, the court said they (SDMC) were changing the neighboiurhood of people and making them alien in their own environment, which happened to be the "worst form of human rights abuse".
