New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) A Delhi Court on Friday granted bail to 82 Bangladeshi who were arrested for attending Tablighi Jamaat congregation and allegedly violated the visa norms by indulging in illegal activities and violating government guidelines issued in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.
Police have registered an FIR against Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Saad Kandhalvi and six others in the month of March this year under the provisions Epidemic Diseases Act, Foreigners Act and Indian Penal Code.
Police submitted that these foreigners had attended the event in March, following which in April COVID-19 cases across the country spiked after hundreds of Tablighi Jamaat members, who had attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz event, tested positive.
