Delhi air quality poor even before Diwali

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) A day before Diwali, the air quality at several places of the national capital region (NCR) has worsened, even though the city this time has been saved from the effect of fire crackers to a large extent due to the Supreme Court ban on the crackers.
According to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) an air monitoring system of the Ministry of Earth Science, the air quality at Mathura Road, Lodhi Road, Pusa, Delhi University, Pitampura is 'very poor', while at Airport T3, Ayanagar, Dhirpur and the neighbouring Noida and Gurgaon the level is 'poor'.
Notably, on Tuesday the air quality in Delhi entered the red zone resulting in shutting down of the polluting Badarpur Power Plant as part of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
