Kolkata, Islampur/Siliguri, Sep 26 (UNI) Defying the West Bengal government blanket ban on shut down, the BJP on Wednesday sponsored a 12-hour strike across the state by and large affecting normal life with reports of sporadic violence, especially attacks on the public properties, including Indian Railways, and state transport minister Suvendu Adhikari claiming the bandh was totally failure.
The BJP was protesting the death of two youths during student's protest at Darivit High School in Islampur where pitched battles happened with the state police forces over appointment of two teachers on Thursday last.
Two former students Rajesh Sarkar and Tapas Burman, both in their early 20 and the residents of Darivit village were killed.
