Defeated BRS now on backfoot in Marathwada

Nanded, Dec 3 (UNI) With Bharat Rastra Samiti (BRS) led by chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who was in power for 10 years in Telangana, facing a defeat at the hands of Congress party on Sunday, the party will now be on the backfoot in adjoining Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra.
In Marathwada, BRS had made an announcement that it would enter the politics of the state with the slogan 'Ab Ki Bar, Kisan Sarkar'.
Founder-president of BRS K Chandrasekhar Rao had warned that he will show his strength in the politics of the state and the country by holding a meeting in Maharashtra 10 months ago. Due to his meeting, some leaders from other parties in Marathwada joined BRS.
BRS had held meetings both in Marathwada and Vidarbha and promoted the party in a big way by boasting about the KCR government giving various facilities and concessions to farmers of Telangana. Consequently, a section of farmers had also turned to BRS to some extent
Even, senior BRS leaders of were discussing the possibility of KCR contesting the Lok Sabha elections next year from Nanded of Marathwada by making his own son the chief minister in case of a hat-trick in retaining power.
Telangana MLAs, who had taken the initiative to hold BRS meeting in Marathwada and Vidarbha, themselves had to face defeat in the assembly polls.
But now that the BRS had lost power in Telangana itself, the survival of the party in Marathwada and Vidarbha has also come to an end. Therefore, it is time for BRS to close the doors on Maharashtra.
