Debt-ridden couple kills minor son, later commits suicide in South TN

Tenkasi, Dec 3 (UNI) In a heart-rending incident, a couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging after killing their minor son in their house at Puliyarai Kattalaikudiyiruppu near Sengottai in Tenkasi district on Tuesday.

Police said while Kandasamy (36) a casual labourer and his wife Indhumathi (30) were found hanging from the ceiling fan, the body of their six-year-old elder son Chinna Mudhran was found with strangulation marks on neck.

The couple’s two-year-old younger daughter was seen unconscious near the body of her brother.

On a complaint from neighbours, police rushed to the house and removed the bodies to government hospital for post-mortem.

The girl child was admitted to the hospital. It was suspect that the couple might have attempted to kill their daughter, but later changed their mind and left her.

Police investigations revealed that huge debt had prompted the couple to end their lives and kill their son.

Further investigation is on.
