Death toll mounts to 17 in Delhi hotel fire

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) The death toll in the massive fire broke out at a hotel here mounted to 17, while three others sustained injuries, senior fire officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to officials, the incident occurred at Arpit Palace hotel in Centre Delhi's Karol Bagh, around 0435 hrs.
Around 25 people have been evacuated safely from the spot, they added.
At least 20 fire tenders were pushed into service and the blaze was put to a stop around 0830 hours, while the rescue operation by the police was still underway.
The victims also include a child and a woman, senior fire officials told UNI.
Some people were seen jumping off the terrace and windows. Most of the deaths took place due to suffocation, officials confirmed.
However, the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
