New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha on Saturday said that he is not convinced of Narendra Modi government’s reply over Rafale fighter jet controversy and added that the main issue is not being addressed.
Talking to a television channel, Mr Sinha said the deal was between the Prime Ministers of India and France, and if former French Prime Minister has made a statement on Rafale, the only person challenging it should be Mr Modi.
Former French Prime Minister Francois Holland had stated recently that India had proposed Anil Ambani-led Reliance Defence as the offset partner in the Rs 59,000 crore deal, in which French Dassault will manufacture 36 Rafale jets.
This statement has triggered a political war between the ruling party and the opposition.
Mr Sinha also requested all political parties to respect the dignity of public discourse, saying “calling each other names doesn’t lead us anywhere”.
Earlier in the day Mr Sinha criticised Modi government, alleging that it has destroyed the economy and Mr Modi is making false claims.
In an article, written by him Mr Sinha said that ‘’recall what the Prime Minister said about depreciating rupee in 2013? Today, with the rupee touching 73 to a dollar, he has not uttered a single word. The same applies to demonetisation and the rising prices of petroleum products.”
It was a deal between the Prime Minister of India and the French President. So, if the former French President has made a statement, the only person challenging it should be the Prime Minister":
