DC beat RR by five wickets, move to second spot

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) Riding on unbeaten Risabh Pant (53 runs off 38 balls) Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by five wickets here at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground here on Saturday.
With this win, Delhi moved to second spot while Mumbai slided to third spot.
After Delhi restricted Rajasthan on a score of 115 runs, Delhi scored 121 runs in 16.1 overs and won the match with five wickets in hand.
While chasing a target, Delhi got off to a decent start but couldn't continue to covert it into a big score as Ish Sodhi dismissed both the openers Prithvi Shaw (8) and Shikhar Dhawan (16) in 3rd over.
Later, Shreyas Iyer and Risabh Pant stitched a 33-runs-partnership for the third wicket Delhi to 61 runs in 7th over. Iyer too failed to stay on the crease, and departed on a score of 15 runs off nine balls. He was caught by Liam Livingstone on Shreyas Gopal's ball.
After Iyer departure, Delhi didn't want to look back Colin Ingram (12) were going strong with Pant as the duo added 22 runs for the fourth wicket and was expected to guide hosts towards victory but fell to Ish Sodhi in 13th over.
Like Rajasthan, Delhi too were in difficult situation and lost their wickets on a regular basis. Finally, touched 100 runs mark in 15th over. Both Pant and Sherfane Rutherford (11 runs) added 23 runs to their teams total. Later, Rutherford like others too failed to support Pant till the last ball and walked to pavilion. He was dismissed by Gopal.
Later, Pant joined by Axar Patel (1) clinched victory with 23 balls to spare.
For Rajasthan Ish Sodhi took three wickets while Shreyas Gopal grabbed two wickets.

Earlier, Rajasthan opted to bat and despite a poor start Rajasthan with the help Riyan Parag brilliant 50 half century posted 115/9 in the stipulated 20 overs against Delhi.
Rajasthan Royals openers Ajinkhya Rahane and Livingstone struggled to score runs from the very start of the game and put up just 11 runs for the first wicket.
Visitors received a major jolt when skipper Rahane was dismissed by Ishant Sharma caught by Shikhar Dhawan at fine leg in the 2nd over.
Rajasthan skipper Rahane just added 2 runs on the scoreboard after facing 4 balls.
After Rahane's exit RR batsman were under pressure to keep the scoreboard ticking. Though RR batsman managed to hit few boundaries, but taking the score to a fighting total they needed to hit regular boundaries.
However, it was Gopal and Parag were brave enough to score 27 for the fifth wicket partnership.
Then Gopal was bowled by Amit Mishra in the 12th over stumped by Rishabh Pant. Gopals' 12 came off in 18 balls without any boundaries.
However, wickets kept falling for RR one after another in form of Livingstone 14, Sanju Samson 5, Lomor 8, Gopal 12, Binny 0, Gowtham 6.
After Gopal's departure Riyan Parag stood firm at the other end but RR wickets kept falling and along with Sodhi took score to 30 for eight wicket partnership.
Parag and Sodhi who were going strong with their partnership was broken by Trent Boult in the 18th over caught at cover by Amit Mishra. Sodhi scored 6 off 11.
For DC Ishant and Mishra took three wickets each to decimate the Royals while Trent Boult took 2 wickets.
