New Delhi, Dec 2 (UNI) Opener Murali Vijay (155) and Virat Kohli, 156 not out, in a 283-run stand, for the third wicket, helped India to 371/4 on day one of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka at Ferozeshah Kotla ground here on Saturday.
India won the toss and opted to bat first.
However, Vijay after completing his 150,was stumped in 86th over by Dickwella in Sandakan's spell, but the hosts had done the damage.
Vijay and Kohli had forged a partnership of 283 runs for the third wicket putting the hosts in the driver's seat.
Rahane, too, fell in similar fashion as Vijay, being stumped by Dickwella in Sandakan's spell.
Kohli (156), with 16 fours, and Rohit Sharma (6) were at the crease at stumps.
In the morning session, the hosts lost two wickets. Before the day ended, they lost two wickets within the last five overs.
