London, Dec 4 (UNI) David and Victoria Beckham joined the Royalty at Buckingham Palace for a state banquet held in honor of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani.
The high-profile event on Tuesday saw the Beckhams join an exclusive list of luminaries, including King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Prince William. The couple, whose attendance was unannounced until the event began, were seen holding hands as they arrived at the palace.
David sat next to U.K. opposition leader Kemi Badenoch and Paris St-Germain football club Nasser Al-Khelaifi, according to the BBC.
King Charles, 76, welcomed his guests and said the relationship between the U.K. and Qatar was “profound, personal and historic", according to People magazine.
While this was David’s first invitation to a state banquet, he has a longstanding association with the royal family. In 2017, he was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his contributions to football and charitable work. This year, he was named an ambassador for The King’s Foundation and collaborated with Prince William to raise funds for the London Air Ambulance.
David and Victoria, who have been married since 1999, have consistently remained in the public eye. Together, they have four children—Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 22, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 13. UNI XC SSP
