Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Jul 21 2016 1:21PM Darjeeling admin demolishes 13 illegal houses at 29th Mile, TeestaSiliguri, Jul 21 (UNI) Thirteen houses, built illegally on the government land, earmarked for NHPC dam at 29th Mile at Teesta in Darjeeling district, were demolished by the PWD department with assistance from local police today.Official sources said the buildings had become extremely precarious and the demolition not only cleared the government land, but also saved many lives from swelling Teesta.Of the 13 houses built on the encroached land, the government had agreed to pay one time compensation to them, to which 11 families had agreed two years ago, but did not move out since then.
