New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) Describing the suicide of a Dalit scholar in Hyderabad Central University a 'murder of democracy, social justice and equality', Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today demanded sacking of Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatareya and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue. ‘’Modi govt constitutionally duty bound to uplift Dalits. Instead Modi ji's ministers got five dalit students ostracised n suspended,’’ the Chief Minister said on micro blogging site, Twitter. ‘’It's not suicide. It's murder. It's murder of democracy, social justice n equality.Modi ji shd sack ministers n apologise to the nation,’’ Mr Kejriwal added. Suicide by a Dalit student in the Central University of Hyderabad yesterday triggered protests while a two member team of the Union Human Resource Development Ministry air dashed to Telengana to investigate the matter and a criminal case was registered against Union Minister Bandaru Dattatareya . Swinging into action, Hyderabad police has filed a case against Dattatreya, the Secunderabad MP, under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act after students alleged that he wrote to the HRD ministry demanding ouster of Rohith Vemula and four other dalit students from the University hostel. Police also registered a case for abetment of suicide against C Ramachandra Rao, MLC, University of Hyderabad vice-chancellor Appa Rao and two Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad leaders, Sushil Kumar and Vishnu. Several student organisations also staged a protest outside the HRD ministry, demanding removal of Hyderabad Central University’s Vice-Chancellor for alleged ‘victimisation’ of the Dalit student who later committed suicide.
