Srinagar, Dec 24 (UNI) Majority parts of the famed Dal Lake and other water bodies were frozen on Monday after the summer capital, Srinagar, recorded coldest night of the season at minus 6.8 degree minimum temperature, also affecting water supply.
A Met department spokesman said this morning that the weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours which could result in more drop in the minimum temperature. However, the maximum temperature would be above normal though icy cold winds will also continue.
He said due to clear sky during the night the night temperature witnessed major drop and settled at minus 6.8 degree, about five notches below normal. It was coldest of the winter season so far, he said adding earlier coldest was minus 5.6 degree witnessed on December 16.
