Dahal criticises PM for his Koshi High Dam remarks

Kathmandu, Sept 14 (UNI) CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has criticised Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s statement regarding an agreement reached with India for the construction of Koshi High Dam.
PM Deuba, during an election meeting on last Tuesday, had said that an agreement was inked with India for the construction of Koshi High Dam as every season high dams on the Indian side cause massive flooding in the bordering areas of Nepal.
Speaking to the reporters at Rajbiraj in Saptari district yesterday, Dahal, whose party is also a partner in the Deuba-led coalition Government, said that it was not good to ink an agreement with India regarding the construction of high dam without proper study, the reports here said including in "The Kathmandu Post".
“The Government should take necessary steps only after a detailed study is conducted on whether constructing Koshi High Dam will be in the interest of Nepal or not,” said Dahal.
