New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said Dadra Nagar Haveli has the potential to be a centre of industrial development due to close proximity with Mumbai as well as a hub for film-making and it could be a 'very good destination for tourists'.
Inaugurating a host of development projects at Silvassa, the capital of Dadra Nagar Haveli, Mr Singh expressed confidence that these development schemes would add to the development of the region and improve the quality of life of the people.
He also reiterated that the Centre was committed to the development of this union territory.
Mr Rajnath Singh also laid the foundation stone for a high level bridge at Kauncha at a cost of Rs 54.73 crore which will connect several villages including Kauncha, Jamalpada, Gunsa, Dudhani. These villages do not have direct connectivity and people of these areas were suffering in times of medical emergencies.
The proposed high-level bridge will improve connectivity to neighbouring villages in Gujarat also by providing inter-state connectivity to Tukwada in Gujarat, Nashik, Triambhakeshwar and Shirdi in Maharashtra.
Mr Rajnath Singh also inaugurated Swabhiman Scheme, a nutritional and balanced diet for pregnant women, lactating mothers and school going girls in the age group of 11-14 years, Silvassa Sports Complex, Labour Housing Complex and a host of other civic amenities projects.
