DAC approves procurement worth Rs 5,100 Cr indigenous equipment

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) In an effort to promote indigenization, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh-headed Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) on Tuesday accorded approval for procurement of equipment worth over Rs 5,100 crore from indigenous sources.
It was the first meeting of this year and also after the constitution of Chief of the Defence Staff.
The equipment include sophisticated Electronic Warfare Systems for the Army designed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured locally by the Indian industry, an official said.
