New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) A total of 50 people from all walks of life, who represent those who helped Delhi move ahead, have been invited as special guests for the Arvind Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia said on Saturday.
"Those who have decorated and helped us (the Delhi government) make Delhi a better city, such as teachers, head of school principals, peons, students who have benefitted 'Jai Bheem' scheme, students who won the Olympiads in Moscow, Mohalla Clinics doctors, families of firefighters who lost their lives, Safai Karamcharis (cleaners), bus marshals, architects of the Signature Bridge, constructions workers who changed the face of the unauthorised colonies, door-to-door service executive and farmers of Delhi will be among these 50 people who will be our special guests," Mr Sisodia told reporters at the party office here.
Reacting to the criticism of BJP for allegedly asking teachers employed in Delhi government schools to attend the swearing-in ceremony, Mr Sisodia said, they have sent an invitation to the teachers to praise them for their work.
"They don’t know how to honour teachers. This is the first time people have praised the work done by teachers during an election. I have received so many messages from the teachers who wanted to attend the swearing-in." Mr Sisodia said during a press conference.
Mr Sisodia also asked the reporters not give so much importance to such issues.
Delhi's Directorate of Education (DoE) had issued a circular on Friday, inviting all the school teachers, principals, vice-principals, happiness coordinators, department of education officials and mentors to the swearing-in-ceremony of the chief minister and his council of ministers on Sunday.
Their attendance will be marked at the gates of Ramlila Maidan.
"The attendance of officers/officials of DoE/ DIET District Institute for Education and Training/SCERT State Council of Educational Research and Training will be compiled at entry gate,' it added.
Earlier in the day, AAP turncoat Kapil Mishra, who joined BJP last year, said in a tweet that 'the government orders was the beginning of a wrong tradition'.
"The tughlaqi farman of the Kejriwal government must be withdrawn as it inconveniences common man, is undemocratic and unethical," former Delhi unit president Vijender Gupta tweeted.
