Cyclonic storm “Jawad” weakening, , landfall likely  near Puri coast on Dec 5

Bhubaneswar, Dec 04 (UNI) The Cyclonic Storm ‘JAWAD’ over westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved slightly northwards and is likely to weaken gradually, Met sources said.
The cyclonic storm will move nearly northwards and then north-northeastwards along Odisha coast reaching near Puri around December 5 noon as a deep depression.
Subsequently, it is likely to weaken further and continue to move north-northeastwards along Odisha coast towards West Bengal coast.

Under its impact light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over districts of coastal Odisha and at many places over the districts of interior Odisha.

Reports reaching the SRC office here said incessant rain lashed several parts of Odisha since last evening throwing normal life out of gear at some places.

The MET office has already issued red warning for Ganjam , Puri and Jagatsinghour district, yellow warning for Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Rayagada and Mayurbhanj districts and orange warning for Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur,Jajpur, Cuttack and Puri districts.

Sources said gale wind, speed reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph, prevails over westcentral Bay of Bengal. It would gradually decrease, becoming 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal by midnight of today.
It would decrease further becoming 50-60 gusting to 70 kmph from the morning of December 5 over northwest Bay of Bengal.

Squally winds, speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to prevail along & off North Andhra Pradesh–Odisha coasts during next 12 hours which will gradually increase becoming 55-65 gusting to 75 kmph till morning of December 5.

Squally winds 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph from 5december 5 morning till afternoon and would decrease thereafter gradually

High Sea conditions are likely to prevail over westcentral & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal.It is likely to be Very Rough over northwest & adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal from midnight of December 4 till evening of December 5 and improve thereafter.

Rough to Very Rough Sea conditions will prevail along & off North Andhra Pradesh – Odisha & West Bengal coasts till December 5evening.

The fishermen are advised not to venture into westcentral & northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off north Andhra Pradesh-Odisha-West Bengal coasts till December 5.
Meanwhile, the authorities have hoisted local warning signal number 4 at all the major ports in Odisha
