Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31 (UNI) In the wake of cyclonic storm MAHA, an Orange Alert was issued in four districts of Kerala.
Citing forecast of heavy to very rainfall of between 6 cm to 20 cm, Orange Alert was issued in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts, while Yellow Alert was issued for other 10 districts on October 31, local MeT office said in a statement here on Thursday.
Moderate Rain accompanied by wind speed reaching 40-60 kmph (in gusts) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad,Malappuram , Kozhikkode, Kannur and Wayanad districts and Lakshadweep area.
Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam has cancelled all the examinations scheduled on Thursday in the wake of adverse weather conditions in the State.
The Government has initiated urgent steps to open rehabilitation centres to accommodate people living in low lying areas as rains continued to battered the State.
