Cyclone Gaja: Heavy damages averted due to precautionary measures taken by govt : Minister

Puducherry, Nov 16 (UNI) Puducherry PWD minister A Namasivayam on Friday said that heavy damages in the severe Cyclonic Storm Gaja was avoided due to precautionary measures taken by the government well in advance.

Talking to news persons after a review meeting with top officials of the PWD here, Mr Namasivayam said that efforts were on to bring back Karaikal to normality.
A 30-member electricity Department team was sent to Karaikal to ensure that the power was restored later in the day.

All roads will be cleared for vehicular traffic by this evening, he said.
