Cycle rally held for energy conservation to mark Bicycle day

Chennai, Jan 28 (UNI) Over 130 enthusiastic cyclists pedalled off from Indian Oil Bhavan Chennai, to mark the BiCycle Day in Tamil Nadu as part of 'SAKSHAM-2017' today. “Judicious use of fossil fuels is an important agenda for Energy Conservation', former DGP Ms Letika Saran said, while flagging off the cycle rally. 'Best wishes for this effort and the BiCycle Day', she said, in the presence of Mr S.Senthil Kumar, Executive Director (Regional Services), Southern Region and Mr T G Nagarajan, General Manager (Institutional Lubes Sales), Tamil Nadu and Pondy and other officials. Ms Nina Redy, Joint Vice President, Savera Group of Hotels, took the lead in the Bi Cycle Day, to promote Fuel Conservation. The highlight of the day was Ms Neerja Malik, a cancer surivivor, and a keen cyclist, who participated in the rally. “I am very happy to be part of this event. I present three H’s to the cyclists here. Health, Hilarity and Harmony, the Cycle Rally here represents the three H’s in a befitting manner', she added. An Indian oil release here said Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Oil and Gas Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, were organising a Campaign to sensitize the masses about the conservation and efficient use of petroleum products towards achieving the twin objectives of better health and environment and securing availability of Oil and Gas for future generations. The campaign was named as 'SAKSHAM 2017' (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) in which a number of activities were being carried out based on the theme of the event – “Indhan Samrakshan ki Zimmedaari…Jangan ki Bhaagidhaari”.
