Cyber-attack hits ticketing service of UPSRTC

Lucknow, Apr 26 (UNI) Electronic Bus Ticketing System (EBTS) of Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) was paralysed following cyber attack by some foreigner hackers after which it has been directed to issue manual tickets took the services are restored, an official spokesman said here on Wednesday.
The spokesman said that the ETBS of the UPSRTC is maintained by a firm Orion Pro which also provides electronic ticket machines, counter booking and online booking. "It is the responsibility of the service providing firm to maintain all the data and network security," he said.
He said that on Tuesday night around 2 am some foreign hackers encrypted the data of the ticketing server of the data center of the service provider which is being operated by another firm Messers Webworks. "Due to this the ticketing system of the service provider firm has been completely affected and the process to restore it is in the process," he said.
