New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest policy-making body of the Congress party on Friday expressed concern over the government failure to find a solution to the farmers protests, compromising national security, has demanded the withdrawing all three agricultural laws from the government and a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe in to alleged compromise on National security.
Addressing a media briefing after CWC meeting here in the party headquarter, the Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal and Communication Department Chief Randeep Singh Surjewala said that three resolutions have been passed in CWC, seeking repeal of three farm laws, the JPC probe in to the alleged leaks of Balakot Air strike by the Indian Air Force and to award strictest punishment to the culprits, besides expressing concerns over the breach of personnel information from the Whatsapp.
“The CWC expressed deep disappointment for not withdrawing the three anti-agriculture laws to end the agitation of farmers who are protesting at the borders of Delhi for two months and said that the Government’s attempts to get them tired through various rounds is condemnable and it was scandalous to accuse the agitating farmers as terrorists”, Mr Venugopal said.
He also said that the farmers have been agitating for repealing these three farm laws and during this agitation, many land tillers have lost their lives but the Government has been most insensitive and adamant on these laws.
“There have been 11 rounds of talks with farmers and they are being exhausted on the pretext of finding a way to negotiate. The Working Committee said that the government should not mislead the farmers and should accept their demand and withdraw all three anti-agricultural laws, he added further.
