Curtain comes down on high voltage campaign in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 30 (UNI) The high voltage campaign for the final phase of general election to six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats, in Odisha ended on Thursday with ruling BJD, and Opposition BJP, exuding confidence to come to power in the state.
Elections to 15 Lok Sabha and 105 Assembly seats, were completed in the last three phases on May 13, May 20 and May 25 last where on an average over 73 percent of the electorate exercised their franchise.
Chief Electoral Office (CEO ) sources said in the last phase of election, about 99,55,556 electorates including 50,85,538 Male,48,69,331 Female and 687 Transgender will exercise their franchise in 10,882 booths, spreading over eight districts, to seal the fate of 460 candidates, 72 of them are women.

Patna, June 20 (UNI) Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav on Thursday said he would appeal to the Supreme Court against the Patna High Court verdict scrapping the hike in the reservation quota for SCs, STs, OBCs, and EBCs in case the state government failed to challenge the judgement before the top court.

Patna, June 20 (UNI) Bihar Government will appeal to the Supreme Court against the Patna High Court judgement scrapping the hike in reservation from 50 per cent to 65 per cent for SCs, STs, OBCs and EBCs in government services in the state.
