CTUs, SKM extend support to Bank strike on March 15-16 : AIBEA

Hyderabad, Mar 4 (UNI) Central Trade Unions (CTUs) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM)--- (Joint Morcha of various farmers organisations) has decided to extend their support to the Nation-wide strike called by United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on March 15 and 16 to oppose the proposed privatization of two Public Sector Banks (PSBs), IDBI Bank and setting up of Bad Bank by the Centre.
The SKM has also extended support to the strike actions of GIC unions on March 17, and Life Insurance Unions on March 18.
The Unions of General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) called the strike in protest against the disinvestment in LIC, Privatization of one General Insurance Company, allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Insurance Sector up to 74 per cent, as announced in the Union Budget by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1.
The Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions----INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, and UTUC --- also decided to extend their support to blockade of Kundli–Manesar– Palwal (KMP) Expressway for five hours announced by SKM along with flying black flags atop houses on March 6 and all the other programmes decided by the SKM.
In a Joint statement issued to the media on Wednesday by the Joint Platform of CTUs and SKM and released by All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) General Secretary Ch Venkatachalam, they said the CTUs and SKM in their joint meeting held on March 1 decided to coordinate time to time for joint action programmes in the coming days to strengthen the evolving unity between workers and farmers (Mazdoor Kisan Ekta).
