Chandigarh, Dec 10 (UNI) Dr Neelesh Kumar, Senior Principal Scientist at Biomedical Instrumentation Unit of CSIR-CSIO in Chandigarh, received the award for Best Applied Research or Technology Innovation aimed at improving the life of persons with Disabilities, 2019 on December 3 - International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The award was given by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu for the development of Virtual Intelligent Techniques for Rehabilitation. The virtual-reality based instrumented and biofeedback system helps in quantifying the rehabilitation of patients, which in turn helps caregivers and the doctors.
Biomedical Instrumentation Unit of CSIR-CSIO is working tirelessly for the development of prosthetic, orthotics, and assistive technology. Scientists of the CSIR-CSIO received the prestigious award in 2012, 2014 and 2018. CSIO has been developing many technologies for improving the quality of life of persons with disability with a Moto “Life with Dignity”.
