Critical need to draw boundaries between information, opinion, and news: Meghalaya CM

Shillong, Sep 20 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said that there is a critical need to draw boundaries between information, opinion, and news, even as he noted that positive criticism is a healthy practice in a democracy.
“Today an opinion or information is looked upon as news, and it is important to have a line of differentiation,” Sangma said and also highlighted the importance of trust in the media sector.
Addressing journalists at a Meghalaya Media Meet 2024 on the theme “Redefining Journalism in the Digital Age," the Chief Minister said, “We can sensationalise things for a short while, but maintaining trust is what we should all strive for as we move along, and I believe that trust is the most important aspect of journalism.”
