Sultanpur, Sep 20 (UNI) A criminal wanted in connection with the robbery of a bullion trader in Nagar Kotwali area of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) after a brief encounter here on Friday.
Police sources said that Ajay alias DM (21) was involved in the robbery of a bullion trader in Thatheri Bazaar on August 28 and a reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced on his arrest. "Apart from four kg silver jewellery, the police have recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the arrested criminal," they said.
The sources also said that based on information, the police set up a blockade on Peedhi-Bagiya road in Jaisinghpur area and challenged the suspicious bike riders at around 4:45 am early morning. The criminals tried to escape by opening fire.
