CPN-MC to withdraw support from Govt in Nepal

Kathmandu, Oct 19 (UNI) Minister without portfolio Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has asserted that CPN-Maoist Centre would withdraw its support to PM Deuba-led government within few days. Speaking at an interaction programme in the capital on Wednesday, Maoist leader Shahi said they would also quit the government within few days. “We are in the government to ensure timely polls, otherwise we do not want to remain in power without any portfolios,” Minister Shahi said, The Himalayan Times reported on Thursday. Leader Shahi also accused PM Deuba of making mistakes by extending cabinet without Legislature-Parliament despite our full support to the government. Referring to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s indication of postponing the elections, Shahi warned that they would resort to protest if the elections were not held on time. Minister Shahi claimed that the broader leftist alliance was on the interest of people and nation. “No party could secure majority in the local level elections, it is sure no party will get majority in the upcoming provincial and parliamentary elections, the leftist alliance was formed after intense discussions,” Shahi added. Similarly, newly appointed Minister for Urban Development Dilanath Giri, speaking at the progamme, said that the upcoming polls would be held on stipulated dates. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Giri reaffirmed that the party has joined the PM Deuba-led government to ensure polls for the implementation of Constitution and federalism in the country. “There have been rumors of postponement of elections, however, I assure you that the elections will be held on time, no one should doubt about the elections, we have joined the government to ensure the elections,” Giri added. He further said that the elections were imperative for the implementation of the Constitution in the nation. He asserted, the elections will not be deferred, it is just a rumour about the postponement of elections, it will be held on time. Meanwhile, the CPN Maoist Centre has been under moral pressure to exit the government after it forged electoral alliance with the main opposition CPN-UML. UNi XC-SNU 0957
