New Delhi, Jul 13 (UNI) The CPI (M) on Saturday expressed shock over death of three people who were killed in a fire that broke out at a rubber and plastic factory in Jhilmil industrial area here and demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakhs to the kin of the labourers.
'This accident is the result of the gross negligence of the Labor Minister, Labor Department and police department. There are so many industrial units working in Delhi, in which there are no records of laborers nor any arrangements for their security is maintained,' the CPI (M) said in a statement.
'Unions working in Delhi have repeatedly raised these issues through memorandums and demonstrations to Labor Minister Gopal Rai, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but the Delhi government and Labor department has closed their eyes to the demands of the laborers,' the party said.
'The Delhi State Committee of CPI (M) demands compensation of Rs 20 lakhs to the kin of the workers killed in this accident, and strict legal action against the factory director of the labor department and the related factory owners,' the statement added.
'A call was received at 0925 hrs that a fire had broken out in a rubber and plastic factory in Jhilmil industrial area near M S park, and more than 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames,' the fire official had said.
