CPI (M) condemns removal of 48,000 striking RTC employees

Hyderabad, Oct 7 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) Telangana unit Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram on Monday condemned the removal of more then 48,000 State Road Transport Corporation employees who are on indefinite strike since midnight on Friday pressing for solution to their 26 demands including the merger of the Corporation with the government.

Talking to newsmen at party state headquarters here, Mr Veerabhadram said that the RTC employees are on strike on their genuine demands.

He stated that the TSRTC strike was legal. He expressed his anguish over the Chief Minister’s remarks against the strike.

While recalling the Madras High Court verdict on Tamil Nadu RTC employees strike, Mr Veerabhadram said it had given its verdict that the strike is legal.

Stating that the strike is the fundamental right of the workers, the CPI-M leader urged the state Government to find an amicable solution instead of suppressing the strike.

Mr Veerabhadram also appealed to the CPI who extended its support to the TRS in Huzurnagar by-election to reconsider it as TRS government was trying to suppress the RTC strike.

Condemning the arrest of RTC JAC leaders who are holding a dharna in a peaceful manner at Indira Park, here, Mr Veerabhadram demanded the government to release them immediately.
