Bhubaneswar,Sep 19 (UNI) The covid +ve cases in Odisha today surged to 1,75,550 with the detection of 4209 new cases from 30 districts, while the death toll rose to 691 with the death of nine more covid patients during the past 24 hours.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said during the past 24 hours 2441 covid cases were found from the quarantine centres and 1768 as local contact cases.
As many as 13 districts in the state reported over 100 positive cases.Khordha registered the highest number of 663 cases followed by Cuttack (491),Puri (326),Balasore ( 183),Jajpur (176),Sambalpur (154) and Jagatsinghour ( 146).
The covid cases have surpassed the 30 k mark in Khordha while Ganjam has reported 19,576 and Cuttack remained the third with 15,485 cases.
As many as eight districts in the state have reported covid cases in between 5000 to 10,000.Deogarh district has the unique distinction of having the lowest number of 479 cases and no death.
Similarly, ten districts have the active cases of over 1000 each.Khordha has registered the highest number of 6548 active cases followed by Cuttack ( 3709) and Puri (2098).As many as 2418 active cases are also registered from the state pool.
Sources said during the past 24 hours nine covid patients succumbed to the virus.They included two from Bargarh district and one each from seven other districts.
Ganjam continues to remain in the top with 215 deaths followed by Khordha(103),Cuttack ( 57),Sundargarh ( 39), Puri and Rayagada 35 each,Gajapati (22) and Sambalpur (20).
Out of the 30 districts in the state, Deogarh and Nuapada have reported no death while Jharsuguda and Boudh have reported one death each.Nabarangpur and Dhenkanal have registered two deaths each.
With the recovery of 4101 covid patients on Friday the recovery in the state went up to 1,37,567.As many as 37239 active cases are under treatment and 37140 people are in hospital isolation.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said the fight with COVID-19 shall continue, not with the infected people adding that “Our behaviour with infected people in fighting COVID-19 shall ensure the victory of humanity.
He called upon to support these people so that they can fight with courage against the pandemic.
Mission Director, National Health Mission, Odisha Salini Pandit claimed that more than 50,000 Covid testing are being done daily in the State.
The Covid recovery rate,she claimed is 78 percent while the fatality rate is 0.4 percent and 70 per cent people are undergoing Home Isolation.
The government had advised the Asymptomatic and persons with mild symptoms to go for 10 days Home isolation and 7 days Home Quarantine.
The state government has decided to highlight the pros and cons of Home Isolation for one week where the specialized doctors will give their views.
