COVID: Punjab registers 894 fresh cases, 29 deaths

Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) Punjab on Wednesday registered record 894 fresh Covid cases and 29 more deaths due to Novel Coronavirus, raising the infection tally to 19,856 and the casualty count to 491 in the state.
According to an official health bulletin, the deadly virus claimed nine lives in Ludhiana district, five in Patiala, four in Jalandhar, three in Gurdaspur, two in Sangrur and one life each in Amritsar, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Mansa and Ropar districts today.
It said that 303 fresh cases have been reported from Ludhiana district, 185 from Patiala, 101 from Jalandhar, 53 from Amritsar, 33 from Barnala, 29 from Bathinda, 27 from SAS Nagar, 23 from Tarn Taran, 19 from Ferozepur, 18 from Pathankot, 17 from Sangrur, 14 each from Fatehgarh Sahib and Moga, 13 from Faridkot, 11 from Muktsar, ten from Ropar, nine from Fazilka, eight from Kapurthala, six from Hoshiarpur and one new case from Gurdaspur district.
