COVID death toll rises to 519, new 4,644 +ve cases in Kerala: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 19 (UNI) Kerala reported 18 deaths due to COVID-19 rising the death toll to 519 on Saturday whereas 4,644 people tested positive to the virus, 2862 patients have recovered from the disease and total 37,488 patients are under treatment, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said this evening.
"Currently, 2,17,695 people are under observation across the state -- 1,92,534 people are under home or institutional quarantine and 25,161 in hospitals. 3,070 persons were admitted to the hospitals today," the CM said while addressing a press conference, here this evening.
Of the positive cases reported today, 3,781 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection of 498 was unknown. Total 86 healthcare workers were also infected by Coronavirus. At the same time, 2,862 patients have recovered from the disease today.
