COVID: 42 districts in UP become virus free

Lucknow, Oct 18 (UNI) With an emphasis on strict screening, proper treatment and vaccination, the state has been able to restrict the number of fresh Covid-19 cases below 50 per cent for over two consecutive months.
Indicating consistent decline, the state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday recorded as many as 9 fresh cases, testifying success of the multi-pronged approach adopted by the state government in limiting the transmission of the virus in the densely populated state, a statement said here.
The fresh cases have declined by more than 38,000 from their peak which was 38,055 on April 24. In sharp contrast to the most populous state, states like Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have been reporting a greater surge of fresh Covid-19 infections (daily cases ranging from 15,000-2,000), it added.
